ALIENVAULT CLOSES A 3RD FUNDING ROUND AMOUNTING $22.4 MILLION LED BY KLEINER PERKINS CAUFIELD & BYERS AND SIGMA.

AlienVault, the only open and collaborative Unified Security Management platform delivering integrated controls and full visibility, today announced that it has closed a $22.4 million Series C funding round led by venture capital firms Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) and Sigma, with participation from existing investors Trident Capital, Adara Venture Partners and Neotec Capital Riesgo.

The funding will be used to expand the company’s sales, marketing and support functions as well as further invest in research and development.

AlienVault has experienced tremendous growth in the first half of this year, more than doubling in revenue. The company has over 300 customers, adding over 60 net new customers in the first half of 2012 and enjoying an over 50% upsell rate into existing customers. New customers include some of the biggest names in software, financial services, higher education, telecommunications, state and local government, and insurance.

In early February it was announced the previous financing round, amounting to $8 million with the entry of Trident Capital (see news).

Ted Schlein, Managing Partner of KPCB, will join the board of AlienVault and Bob Spinner (Sigma), will participate as observer of the Board. In the board are also J. Alberto Yépez (Trident Capital), Peter Pace, Kenneth Goldman, John M. Jack, Alberto Gómez (Adara Venture Partners), Barmak Meftah, Julio Casal (AlienVault co-founder), and observers as Mike Biggee (Trident Capital) and Dominique Karg (AlienVault co-founder).

Recently AlienVault was recognized by Red Herring as one of their Top 100 North America Tech Startups for 2012, and by AlwaysOn as an OnDemand Top 100 Private Companies for 2012.
